Let’s say a company is considering launching a new flavor of soda and wants to test whether consumers prefer the new flavor over the existing ones. The company decides to conduct a survey where they ask participants to taste both the new flavor and one of the existing flavors and then indicate their preference.

First, let’s consider the fixed number of trials characteristic. In this experiment, the company decides to survey 1000 participants. Each participant represents one trial, and the company will collect data from all 1000 participants. This ensures a fixed number of trials for the experiment.

Secondly, the experiment meets the two possible outcomes characteristic. In this case, the two possible outcomes are that a participant either prefers the new flavor or prefers one of the existing flavors. The company will record the preference of each participant, and based on their responses, they will categorize them into one of these two outcomes.

Lastly, the experiment satisfies the characteristic of independent trials repeated using the same conditions. The company ensures independence by randomly selecting participants from the target population and ensuring that each participant’s response does not influence another participant’s response. Additionally, the company maintains consistency by ensuring that all participants taste the sodas under the same conditions, such as controlling factors like temperature and presentation.
